We are Port Hacking Little Athletics Centre located in the Shire, New South Wales. We are all about Family, Fun and Fitness for young athletes aged 4-17yrs old, teaching kids sport foundations and skills via running, jumping and throwing.
Little Athletics is a foundation for all sports, giving young athletes skills to improve all areas of their fitness and co-ordination. We're not really about winning; the main focus is on athlete participation and personal improvement.
Our mission statement is that of Little Athletics NSW:
“Little Athletics NSW aspires to provide the community with recreational athletics activities that contribute to the healthy development of our children.
Such activities will promote:
- The development of skills
- The building of character and self-esteem
- The fostering of good sportsmanship in a safe, positive, family-friendly and inclusive environment.”
Each season we have two Special Competition days where athletes can win medals at Centre Multi Event and Centre Championships. There is a minimal cost to enter these Championships.
For any of our registered athletes U/7 to U/17 years who wish to be coached, this is provided free of charge after school on various afternoons. We have qualified coaches. It is not compulsory to attend coaching sessions.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO CHILD IS TO BE LEFT UNATTENDED AT THE TRACK ON SATURDAY MORNINGS.
Little athletics is fun, but requires parental assistance to conduct the events. (we will teach you)
Parents (or your adult representative) are required to help every second Saturday morning. This is a condition of registration.
Parents will be asked to sign a form stating that they will assist, otherwise, their child's registration will not be accepted.
In keeping with the Little Athletics motto of "Family, Fun and Fitness" we provide all athletes with the best facilities, coaching and competition possible.
Athletes are encouraged to compete in all events available each Saturday and so improve their times and distances.
Due to the excellent drainage of the Sylvania Waters Athletic Track, a decision, in the event of wet weather, as to whether or not competition will be held will be made at 7.30am by the Executive at the Track prior to competition. Please check our Facebook page after 7.30am on the day to find out whether or not competition is on. As a last resort the track can be contacted on 9522 4510 after 7.30am on the day. Do not call before this time. You should assume competition is on until confirmation is received otherwise. If the A or B week is not completed due to wet weather it will be held on the next Centre Competition day.
